Wordless Wednesday

It is Wordless Wednesday in Blogland.

This image has always provided a chance to think - what would you have done?

Carter mentioned before he died that this was just one of hundreds of babies lying around like this.

It is not a pretty photo, nor a happy moment.

But it is the world in which we live.

US Time Magazine has an excellent article on Carter if you want to read more.

  1. Oh my goodness. This photo just made me cry.

I wanted to pick that little boy up and take him home with me.

I have a sponsor child from Zambia (Kopa, he's ever-so-cute).

That poor photographer. I couldn't imagine how he must have felt.

  2. I've seen this before, there was a big deal about whether or not the guy did enough. After taking the photo Carter had scared the bird away, but people had issues with the fact he had taken his time 'to get the right shot'.

The photo had to be taken, in order to show people what was/is really going on, to make people care about it enough to want to help.

For some people, just hearing about what happens isn't enough. They want 'proof'.

It's very sad that Carter went the way he did. But what he saw there, and in many other places would scar you for life.

  4. What to do when there were so many? How could you save one child and not another? So much to think about, most importantly, how can we let this happen at all?

  5. it is the world we live in.
some times not a happy place. How true how do save one child and not another..how could we make the choice.
Thats why we should treasure our children.

  6. wow. doesn't it make you stop in your tracks and slap yourself on the wrist for being so petty at times (this is what happens to me, at least).

  7. Yes, even if just for a moment, we are very thankful for what we have.
