My Exclamation.

Image from Pinterest

I know I do it.

It is a really bad habit and sometimes I go back and remove them or try and see if something can be altered to give the words the same effect.

But I love them.

One little sign that gives punch and humour and fun and power.

I overuse exclamation marks all the time.

But I am not really sorry.

I know I will continue to overuse them. But let it be known, I know that I do. I just can't help it. It is like a nail biting or smoking habit, one you know you should give up, but they just give you too much joy.

So my exclamation marks are here to stay!

But I don't do double exclamation marks, that is just wrong.

Is that okay?

  1. It's a curse of our generation! (even though I'm probably a teensy weensy bit older). Like you, I am restrained enough to avoid the double exclamation, very uncool. I am however also a victim of the ellipsis...

    1. Word on the street is that the double is taking things a little too far. Perhaps an extremist? But I say language and writing is fluid and ever changing, you can lead the cause of the double!!!

  6. Haha! Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode when Elaine insisted on exclamation points. I LOVE exclamation points - and like you, will continue to use them no matter what anyone says! Hooray!!!

  7. I use double, triple and even quadruple exclamation marks sometimes!!!! ot exactly sure why I do it!? It's almost like my finger gets stuck on the '!' key.

  8. I overuse all forms of punctuation - I don't discriminate. A few ellipses here, an exclamation point there, (too many comma!); and some incorrectly used colons and semi colons: I know the rules, I just don't apply them!

  9. I use heaps of exclamatin marks - always more than one !!!! My e-mals, letters, notes, everything would be heaps shorter without them. The only place I don't use them is in business letters.
    Love, hugs and positive energy.

  10. I have been making a conscious effort to not one them at the end of every sentence. It does not always go well. I am also a serial offender... of the over use... of elipsis...

  11. It's okay with me, if it's okay with you.

And yes, just one is enough. Two is over the top!
